TIME DOESN'T STAND STILL... and it isn't guaranteed.

These images were taken in late August of 2020 during a weekend family getaway at a unique spot in Princess Anne. It was beautiful. Peaceful. Here time stood still and that weekend was a much needed escape from everything going on in the world.

Looking back, I can remember the meals we ate (my mother-in-law should have her own cooking show), time spent fishing and crabbing on the dock, and the one night where a wicked storm rolled through - we had front row seats to the most magnificent light show.

I had had my Fujifilm X-T4 for a little over a month at this point and was obsessed with the landscape and capturing rich sunsets. What I should have been focusing my lens on was the people. Specifically Grandma, my husband's grandmother. You see, I assumed we had more time. What I didn't know-what none of us knew was that she was ill. Hell, even the doctors missed it. Cancer is sneaky like that.

Grandma was called home shortly after that trip.

We have all taken something for granted. We have all lost someone. We have all looked back and thought "if only I had known - I would have taken the time to be in the moment with them."

So take the shot. Capture every smile and laugh line. Capture the faces and hands that are weathered from a lifetime of experiences. It doesn't have to be posed. It doesn't need to have the perfect background. The candid moments are the best.

You will not find Sylvia (Grandma) in these photos but these stand as my letters to her from that beautiful weekend until we meet again.
