BACK TO BASICS

I lost my passion for photography quite some time ago. Chalk it up to a bad experience, lack of inspiration, imposter syndrome, or all of the above. When I finally picked up the camera again, I felt lost, as if everything I'd learned had simply vanished.

Summer 2023, I decided to start from scratch and enrolled in an Introduction to Photography course at a local art museum. Our group had varying levels of experience, and our instructor, Kathy Buckalew, guided us through the fundamental principles of photography with patience and care. She taught us to work with our camera settings, understand exposure and composition, and offered thoughtful critiques of our assignments. It was exactly what I needed to rebuild my confidence and rediscover why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
